Icons für KDE mussten (abgesehen von Actions) in 3 Größen angefertigt werden: 48x48, 32x32 und 16x16. Für die kleinste Variante waren nur wenige Farben erlaubt. Anfangs war die Vorgabe, dass Icons schwarz umrandet sein sollten. Diese Einschränkung wurde später aufgegeben.
